I’ve been skeptical of the new J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman show, Almost Human, since I first started seeing commercials for it. I mean, how is this thing not titled I, Robot: The Television Series? Fortunately, for those who would like to decide ahead of time whether or not they will give the show a shot, the first seven minutes have been released.
Now, after watching the first seven minutes, I’m still getting some serious I, Robot vibes, but I have more hope for this show than I did that movie. Karl Urban plays John Kennex, who is almost the exact same character that Will Smith played in I, Robot; a cop who resents the robots and the synthetic body parts that had to be used to save their own lives. On that note, even Dorian, played by Michael Ealy, is very similar to Sonny from the film, in that he’s an outcast robot that feels human-like emotions. Despite these painfully similar characters, there already seems to be a bit more of a dark humor to the show, and that’s within the first seven minutes.
Almost Human premieres on November 17th, but if you’d like to check out the first seven minutes for yourself, check out the video below.
