It’s no secret that superhero movies are hot nowadays, and with The Avengers opening the doors to superhero team-up movies and crafting a superbly interconnected universe, they may just be more popular than ever. A lot of people are calling for other members of the super group to join in, but due to those properties being licensed out to other studios, the thought of an Avengers movie with other popular superheroes, like Spider-Man and Wolverine, have seemed like something we’d only see in our dreams. According to Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige, however, we shouldn’t count it as an impossibility just yet.
During a promotional event for Thor: The Dark World, a fan asked the question of whether or not we could see the other Marvel superheroes joining into the MCU, to which Feige simply responded “Never say never.” He went on to explain that, with their current crop of heroes, they aren’t really in a position where they need to go looking for more, but that it’s something that he’d like to see at some point in time. Even with Sony and 21st Century Fox owning the film rights the Spider-Man and X-Men franchises respectively, there’s been speculation over whether or not a deal could be reached between the parties to make this super-sized Marvel movie a reality, so this should give folks some hope. If you’d like to check out the video below, the question comes up a little after the 4-minute mark.
Personally, I’d love to see a crossover between the properties, and I don’t know who wouldn’t want to see that. The Avengers has been built into a huge franchise, and there’s no way that adding the equally huge names of Spider-Man and the X-Men wouldn’t be a complete nerdgasm.
