Just the two of us, Klaus Pichler, 2013

Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com

ABOVE: Klaus Pichler put together a series of stunning photographs involving cosplayers out of their convention element and in their real world homes.  The end result is sometimes creepy, sometimes comical but always beautiful. [Neatorama

lego arkham

This gothic LEGO Arkham Asylum took over a year for Thorsten Bonsch to design and build. I’d say it was well worth the wait. [io9]

Return of the Jedi pinup dress

I don’t know about you, but I need this dress in my life. I’d also take one of the many other nerd inspired dresses from Sweet Heart Clothing.

femme magneto

Lady Annaka makes a lovely Lady Magneto. Check out Fashionably Geek for more great pics of her costume.

How the TARDIS works 2

Two physicists, Dr. Ben Tippet and Dr. Dave Tsang, developed a theory of ‘spacetime bubbles’ they call ‘Traversable Achronal Retrograde Domains in Spacetime.’ Yes, that’s right, they named this theory TARDIS. You can read the full paper on their theory here, but there’s also a shorter version entitled ‘The Blue Box White Paper.’ Both are cleverly illustrated with images like the one above to help you understand their theory.  [Geekosystem]

minecraft wedding

Best.Wedding.Photo.Ever. I really hope they went to the altar like this. [Home Geekonomics]

superhero social media

Mashable put together an infographic cataloging social mentions for comic book heroes and villains. It ends with the ultimate battle: Marvel vs. DC. See the full infographic at Geekologie – which, btw, makes my brain twitch because it puts Jean Grey, not Dark Phoenix, in the villain category!

You know, I used to live right by Prospect Park in Brooklyn, and I never saw any damn dinosaurs! I feel gypped.  [io9]

Talk about committing to a costume! Blizzard employee Rene Koiter got completely in character for the company’s annual Halloween costume contest. Watch the video to see his performance! [Geeks Are Sexy]
