Batman-Arkham-City-Nightwing

When it comes to Batman vs Superman (or whatever the heck they’re calling it), people can’t seem to stop thinking about Dick… Dick Grayson, that is. Recently, Latino Review got wind of Warner Bros. casting for a “a young John Hawkes type” and implied this was for the role of Batman sidekick Robin a.k.a. Nightwing. That could just as easily mean a young Bruce Wayne or some other character for flashbacks and what not, but Latino Review seemed pretty certain of their claim citing a trusted source. Well, further down the Rabbit Robin hole we go, as TheWrap suggests they know who’s up for the role…

‘Batman vs. Superman’ Eyes ‘Girls’ Star Adam Driver for Sidekick Role (Exclusive)

Girls star Adam Driver has emerged as the frontrunner to play Batman’s crime-fighting partner Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing (formerly Robin), in Zack Snyder’s superhero sequel  Batman vs. Superman, two individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

No comments from Warner Bros to confirm or deny this casting rumor, so take it as that… a rumor (a rumor on a rumor). If we’re to play along, though, what casting director considers a human football for the iconic role of Robin/Nightwing? He certainly fits the bill for that “young John Hawkes” type, but why the long face?  Enormous Dumbo sized ears aren’t the best trait for a secret identity.

Am I unnecessarily picking on the guy for his looks?  Was the comment towards his oblong shaped head uncouth? Maybe, but looks are important when it comes to the characters we love. If this Robin/Nightwing business is true, then I, as a fan, want someone who is the living embodiment of such an iconic comic character. This guy is not it.

Maybe I’m just being extra sour because I really don’t want Nightwing in the movie. I mean, Batman vs. Superman vs. Lex Luthor, vs Wonderwoman vs. Nightwing vs. the kitchen sink. Enough is enough. This is a Batman & Superman film. Put the focus on them.
