It might surprise you to know that Warner Bros. has more than just a sequel to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel in the works. You can’t be blamed though, that’s all the Internet seems to be talking about these days. Guillermo del Toro gives us an update on where the Justice League Dark stands, and what Warner Bros. has planned for the future of DC Comics characters and universe.
Guillermo del Toro continues his efforts to get his Justice League Dark project off the ground. He’s one of the masters of putting dark matters on the big screen and he wants to bring some of DC’s favorite demonic fighting characters to the big screen including Swamp Thing, The Demon, John Constantine, Deadman, The Spectre and the father/daughter pair of Zatara and Zatanna.
What’s the status of the project? He recently talked with Cinefilos.it, and had this to say:
We’re still on (Justice League Dark), writing, and hopefully it will happen but there are no developments that are new. We’re still at Warner Bros., they are making plans for the entire DC universe. All the superheroes, all the mythologies, and part of that is Justice League Dark. They’re planning on TV, movies, and all the media, so we have to fit into that plan.
What else could Warner Bros. be planning?
The failed Wonder Woman television series jumps to mind immediately, the powers that be just can’t seem to make such an incredible female character work for some baffling reason. Perhaps a decent film treatment might be in the works.
Constantine is coming to the small screen soon, hopefully that won’t get in the way of the character appearing in Justice League Dark.
What DC characters would you like to see Warner Bros. tackle next?
