VIDEO: Trailer for ‘Divergent’ Drops

So, the trailer for Divergent, starring Shailene Woodley, has hit the web, and it’s… meh. Obviously looking to capitalize on the futuristic dystopian theme that’s become so popular in The Hunger Games, Divergent seems a bit too similar, and even more farfetched.

Wow. It was actually hard to get through that trailer, and that was only just over two minutes. There were just so many teenaged girl movie clichés jammed into the trailer, channeling the aforementioned Hunger Games, Mortal Instruments, among others. Now, I actually enjoyed The Hunger Games, but the recycled themes that I saw from watching this trailer alone was overwhelming.

You can check out the official description for the movie below:

DIVERGENT is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a future where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late. Based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.
