If my last Amazing Spider-Man 2 post was any indication, I’m not a fan of director Marc Webb’s take on our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. I’ll save you my long winded diatribe and just say the last flick suffered sloppy writing, a severe lack of character development and featured a laughable one dimensional villain. I was not impressed, and will continue to shake a fist at that horrendous film.
Now, going into the second one. I’m discovering more and more reasons to prepare for the most epic of facepalms. As if Jamie Foxx’s Electro looking like a blue sour skittle wasn’t unsightly enough, a new poster featuring Green Goblin and Rhino has emerged to widen eyes.
Twitter user Jeser Piedra (via Marvel_Spider) spotted a triptych poster (above) for the sequel at the Red Rock casino in Las Vegas last night. It’s low quality, but the poster clearly features Spider-Man, Electro, Rhino and even Green Goblin. Check out the gallery below for closer shots.
So it begins…
3 villains? Sure, judging a film on the amount of characters it has is foolhardy, but I have doubts everything will be balanced out. This is all too reminiscent of Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Plus, it’s hard to be sold on depth and character when these big-bads look like something out of a Joel Schumacher Batman film.
TASM2 – Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
