If you’ve been on any form of social media over the last few hours, you’ve surely noticed the flood of conflicting reports (and thoroughly classless jokes) regarding actor Paul Walker’s rumored death.
It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. – #TeamPW
To fans, Walker will of course be well remembered for his roles in Varsity Blues, Into the Blue, and the new cult fave, Running Scared. But it was in the role of Brian O’Conner, a cop turned bandit in the Fast and Furious franchise that will define Walker’s on-screen legacy.
Walker had appeared in all but the third installment of the series and had recently begun filming on Fast and Furious 7. How this shocking event shapes that film is of little importance right now, but I’m sure we will keep you up to date on that story at a more appropriate time.
For now, though, our hearts go out to Walker’s family and friends as they deal with this humongous loss.
