The CW might as well change it’s name to “The DC” if this trends keep going the way they are. Bleeding Cool is hearing that Warner Bros has another DC Comics property warming up in the bullpen, which is already pretty full with series based on The Flash, Hourman and iZombie all warming up. So will there be room on the network schedule for a live-action Young Justice?
If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, Young Justice began in 1998 as a team-up of the Superman clone Superboy, Batman’s sidekick Robin whose boots were then being filled by Tim Drake, and super-speed kid from the future Impulse. As series went on, other heroes were added like the newest Wonder Girl, the archer Arrowette and the ghostly Secret. The comic series came to an end in 2003 when many members of the team joined the new Teen Titans, but Young Justice keeps saving the day on TV in the animated series featuring Superboy, Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Arrowette and Miss Martian.
These are early days for the series’ development, so there’s no word on cast or crew yet. What Bleeding Cool does know is that the show is looking for towards a 2015 launch date, and that the show will feature the characters of Superboy and Miss Martian as the leads. It could be cool, certainly The CW is having decent success right now with both superheroes (Arrow) and super-powered teens (The Tomorrow People), so combining the two with Young Justice just makes sense, right? Only so long as it doesn’t look like this:
