All sorts of goodies from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have been rolling out since it was announced that the first official trailer would be releasing this Thursday, and today comes bearing more gifts. In addition to the teasers that released yesterday hyping the trailer, and the picture featuring Spidey and foes a few days before that, we’ve now got our hands on an official plot summary.
Unlike the previously released summary, this one gives us a bit more of an idea of what to expect from the film, in terms of characters and the roles they’ll be playing, as well as what direction the movie is taking. As most people already know, Electro will be the main villain, but we’re also getting to see Harry Osborn for the first time in the Amazing universe, which will surely bring a much closer focus on OsCorp in the film.
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
As has been speculated, and hinted at by Jamie Foxx, it seems as though they’re building toward a film version of the Sinister Six with such an influx of villains in their second outing. Dr. Conners is still alive, albeit in jail, they’re introducing the Rhino and Electro, and there’s a good chance that either of the Osborns will be turning into some sort of Goblin; it looks like we’ve got a good chance of seeing the super team of villains on the big screen after all.
What do you think TASM2 has in store for the likes of Electro, Rhino, and Harry Osborn? Let us know, and check back on Thursday for the debut trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2!
