The rumor Peter Jackson could direct an episode of Doctor Who was a pretty fervent one months ago. Since then, and all the 50th anniversary hullabaloo, there hasn’t been much said on the subject–till now. Jackson has come out to say those discussions about him directing an episode are “actually kind of serious”.

Talking with Digital Spy, Jackson elaborated,

I would be very happy to [direct an episode]. I’d love to try my hand at television, because I’ve never had the discipline of having to shoot for those impossibly tiny schedules. I think I could do it okay now.

I did suggest that they did a New Zealand story – something to do with the [rugby union] All Blacks versus the Daleks. There’s a good story in there, although obviously the All Blacks would have to win!

With The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug releasing this week and filming (mostly) finished for the trilogy as a whole you’d think Jackson would have lots of free time on his hands. But I imagine Jackson will be busy with hobbitses all the way until There and Back Again is is theatres, and probably even beyond that!

What do you think of Jackson directing Who being SRS BSNS?
