The-Walking-Dead-Season

The first season of Telltale‘s The Walking Dead blew everyone away. Until then, no one ever imagined what’s basically a choose-your-own adventure style of gaming could be so gripping. With an ending as shocking as its first season had, Season 2 only promises to be more intense as players step into the shoes of the young orphan, Clementine. We’ve already seen a short trailer teasing The Walking Dead’s second season, but today Telltale released a trailer for its first episode, “All That Remains.”

The Walking Dead was easily one of the best games I’ve ever played, and its ending emotionally wrecked me for days. Now that its sequel has us playing as Clementine, a young girl of about nine, I cannot even begin to fathom the choices we’ll be forced to make. And I can’t wait to see how the choices players made in the first game, as well as its DLC 400 Days, will effect the story in Season 2. I already predict another Game of the Year nomination for Telltale with this one.

Not that The Walking Dead is their only offering, though it’s surely their most popular and what made them the name in choice/consequences gaming and storytelling. There’s also The Wolf Among Us, a game with heavy noir and detective influences based on Vertigo’s Fables, and Telltale just secured the rights to make a game set in the world of HBO’s Game of Thrones. I can’t even begin to express how perfect that partnership will prove. A game of choices and their consequences set in Westeros? Oh, how heads will roll.

The Walking Dead Season 2’s first episode, “All That Remains”, is expected to release very, very soon, though no official date has been set. Will you be checking out Season Two as it releases or will you wait to buy the whole season at once?

UPDATE! Job J. Stauffer, head of PR for Telltale Games has tweeted confirming Episode One drops on Steam and the Playstation Network today. Tomorrow it will release for Xbox and next week for iOS.
