If you’re like me, then you probably gave up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. pretty early on, and only occasionally tune in now to revel in the schadenfreude of a possible misstep by both Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios. But for fans of the show, and of the universe Marvel’s created, be advised that another name-brand super-villain is coming to the show, and just in time for the winter season. Who is it, and in what context will they appear? Read on to find out.
Via ABC and Marvel Entertainment, the pair have announced that Donnie Gill, AKA: Blizzard, will appear in the January 14 episode of the series. The episode, which is called “Seeds,” will also feature the return of arch-villain Ian Quinn played by David Conrad. What’s the episode about? It’s described as follows:
“Coulson and May uncover startling information about Skye’s past, while the team is swept into a storm at S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy.”
Interesting. So what roll does Blizzard have to play? Well, in the comics Blizzard has appeared as an Iron Man villain, and sometimes partnered as a pawn of Justin Hammer. Of course, Iron Man lore has played a part in the series so far with Extremis, and Justin Hammer has already been introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (although I doubt Sam Rockwell will make an appearance on the show). Not sure what this means for the show ongoing, but more super-villains and more connections to the bigger Marvel U would definitely be welcome.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns after the new year with new episodes Tuesdays on ABC.
