Besides sounding like a devilish delicious danish, the name Baron Von Strucker is actually a long standing villain in the Marvel Universe. Strucker first appeared in 1964’s “Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos.” His schtick goes a little something like this: A former Nazi officer, Strucker’s body is host to the “Death Spore Virus,” which gives him powerful healing abilities and has stopped his aging. If he dies, however, the virus can go airborne and wipe out all life on Earth. But that’s comic book talk. Put it this way, he’s a villain from the comics that’s part of the Hydra organization that we saw in the first Captain America movie. He may be the one who took the reins once Red Skull disappeared in the movie universe. Anyhoozle, rumor has it he’ll be the second villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron. As if a mechanical megalomaniac wasn’t enough…
Latino Review makes the claim that Marvel’s expanding it’s cinematic universe with the addition of Von Strucker in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Further reporting that Marvel has shown interest in actors Martin Csokas and Dougray Scott for the role. Latino Review freely admits that means nothing.
I doubt the legitimacy of this story. A) Latino Review has become increasingly unreliable these days and B) I’d be more opt to believe Strucker as being the big-bag pulling all the strings in Captain America 2: The Winter Solider. At least that would make sense.
Anyone wanna wager how long until someone at Marvel debunks this story? Or are just interested in how Iron Man is going to save the world again?
