For those of you who haven’t yet taken notice, there’s been a Daily Bugle blog running to promote the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it’s been teasing a group of classic villains from the comics showing up in the TASM universe.
Along with the subtle hints at an expanded universe (an article by Eddie Brock was featured a couple weeks ago), they’ve been hinting at a group of criminals, known as the Enforcers to comic book fans, having a few run-ins with Spidey already. While we don’t know how far this will carry over into the movie, or if it will at all, it seems likely given that “Fancy” Dan Brito, one of the group’s founding members, has been mentioned as having a price on the web-slinging hero’s head. It’s also worth noting that the article was written by Frederick Foswell, otherwise known as Big Man, and a member of the Enforcers himself.

With reports of Russian mob activity at an all-time high in the city, many have wondered who these (mostly) men are and what they are trying to accomplish. New Yorkers are no strangers to organized crime, but this time it seems different.
Gregarious, boastful men fill the Brighton beach night scene — every single one of them with a spectacular guttural baritone voice that makes one wonder if there are any gangster tenors.
Mob activity is the suspected cause of a spike in crime across all five boroughs. Not content with hijacking retails goods, sports betting, or drugs, more crime families have become involved in high-tech crimes such as the theft of microchips, processors, experimental metal alloys, and advanced weaponry.
Fancy Dan Brito said during his arraignment for the recent Brighton Beach shootout, “Everything has a price. Including the head of so-called superheroes.”
With the ever-expanding Spider-Man universe underway, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see them take the time to delve into some of the lesser-known, un-super-powered criminals that Spidey has to combat on a regular basis. It should be interesting to see, with the Enforcers also being a common enemy of Daredevil, if they show up in the recently announced Daredevil Netflix series as well.
