Disney has finally released an official production still for James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. Of course that featured image above is not the new still, we’re not giving that out without at least a click through to view the entire post, but it’s well worth it.

Let’s start with this blurry, and Way-To-Quick-To-Really-See-Details-Image that we all saw after the SDCC2013 Guardians of the Galaxy panel had Hall H rocking with excited fans.

Then Marvel let us see this image that showed how the comic style characters would look. Don’t you just love how the shadows are doing something different in the background?

Now Disney has released the first official production still of that same scene and it looks incredible! Holy crap look at Groot and Drax the Destroyer! Look at how little Rocket Raacoon is? So much to love about this image. I can’t wait to see some detailed moving footage.

Earlier today we posted some comments from the Star-Lord himself Chris Pratt and director James Gunn that spelled out the story behind this scene. Now also we’ve got the Official Synopsis:

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team — the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the blanace. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

I can’t wait for more! This is going to be the Marvel movie of the year . . . wait. Captain America: The Winter Soldier looks incredible too. Which to choose, which will pack the theaters? ALL THE FEELS!?!?! What am I to do with all these feels!?!?!
