The work on Guardians of the Galaxy moves forward and we’ve finally hit that stage where the powers-that-be are ready to start spamming us with hints and teases in an effort to generate market interest. And with the New Year comes some new revelations, particularly with regards to what we can expect to see in the film. Scroll on for all the Guardians you could ever hope for (aside from the movie, of course).
First up, it appears as if Glenn Close will be playing the role of Nova Prima Rael, not Commander Raes as was previously rumored. Rael is apparently the top dog when it comes to Nova Corps.
As for Benicio Del Toro’s role as The Collector, he won’t necessarily be a proper villain for the Guardians to hammer their fists against. As the rumor has it (via Drew McWeeny of HitFix):
The Guardians are going to need something from him, and we’ll see what happens when Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Drax, and… Groot all show up on his planet asking for access to something in that collection.
There’s also a little more on what we might expect from Thanos in the film. And while they’ve been pretty open about letting people know that he’s not the big baddie, the character will get some development in the film, although much of his influence may be of an off-screen variety, the puppet-master pulling the strings as it were.
The main villain will supposedly be Ronan the Accuser, with Drax the Destroyer (played by Dave Bautista) having a serious score to settle with him. Reports from the set indicate that Bautista, a former wrestler, has been bringing the chops to the role, so it should be pretty interesting to see what he’s put together.
And that’s about all we got for you today, kiddies. Stick around and we’ll no doubt have plenty more as the Guardians of the Galaxy release date of August 1st rolls closer.
Thanks to ComicBookMovie for the heads-up.
