The folks over at Marvel have released a little something to get us warmed up for the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That something, a prequel comic detailing Captain America’s time as a S.H.I.E.L.D. Operative after the events of The Avengers, and we have the first look for you right here.
So, as I’m sure many have been wondering, just how did Steve Rogers go from a man who wasn’t sure of his place in the world, to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent we see in the trailers for The Winter Soldier? Well, it seems as though we might get to see a bit of that in this prequel comic, titled Captain America: Homecoming, in addition to that new S.H.I.E.L.D. designed costume (which I personally hate, but understand its purpose). You can check out the first look at the comics below:
Van Lente, who is penning the comic that’s being drawn by Tom Grummett, gave the gist of the story in an interview with Newsarama
“In this story, Steve Rogers takes Natasha to the Brooklyn neighborhood where he grew up. A lot has changed there since Steve was a kid in the 1930s, but the walk down memory lane is interrupted when a terrorist strike happens while they’re there. The question of whether it happens because they were there or not is a question readers will have to wait until they read the issue to find out.”
So, are you gonna check this series out? It’s obviously not a necessity to understand the movie, but with over 3 months until Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters, this might be enough to get fans excited for the movie again right before its release, while giving some added development to the fresh new team-up of Cap and Black Widow. Let us know what you think, and check out this comic when it releases in early April.
