When news hit the Internet that From Dusk Till Dawn was coming to television, many people wondered why, and would the series match the frolicking fun of the original, or follow the less-than-satisfying sequels. Why? Director Robert Rodriguez says:
If the film is the short story, this is the novel. There was so much that I wanted to explore in that movie that I didn’t get to.
Will the series live up to its origins? There’s certainly no lack of talent involved behind the camera. Rodriguez is directing the first, second and fourth episodes, while Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair WiItch Project) and Joe Menendez (Imagination Movers) have taken the reins for episodes three and five.
The makeup master himself Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) is back to oversee the series special effects and makeup.
The Gecko brothers are portrayed by D.J. Cotrona (G.I.Joe Retaliation) and Zane Holtz (The Perks of Being a Wallflower). Don Johnson and Jessee Garcia are the lawmen trying to track the criminal brothers down. Wilmer Valderrama, Adrianne Palicki, Jake Busey, Lane Garrison, Robert Patrick, Madison Davenport and Brandon Soo Hoo add to the mix of this talented and diverse cast.
The series starts off with ten episodes on the new El Rey Network on March 11th at 9pm. El Rey has also acquired the cable rights Starsky & Hutch, Dark Angel, and The X Files.
