First there were rumors that the sequel to Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel would co-star Batman: Confirmed. Then we heard Wonder Woman would be joining the party: Confirmed. Jon Stewart’s Green Lantern–perhaps portrayed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson–is apparently a possibility. But no one has confirmed or denied anything yet.
Most recently, the name Jason Momoa–of Game of Thrones, Stargate: Atlantis, and the disappointing Conan The Barbarian remake fame–has been tossed around as a possible candidate for Aquaman…
This one’s a no–according to the actor himself. (more after the jump)
Here’s what Momoa had to say in an interview with IGN when the subject came up:
It’s just rumors. I want to say something amazing, but I can’t comment on rumors. It’s flattering, [but] I’m not involved in it. Maybe someone said, ‘You should be in this!’ and I said, ‘Yeah that would be great!’ And it just went too far.
Momoa WAS being considered for Drax The Destroyer in Marvel‘s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy–a role that eventually went to Dave Bautista. But that’s the closest he’s come to being a part of a comic book movie so far.
Of course, in Hollywood that’s all you need for the rumor mill to start attaching you to any and every superhero project that happens to be in the works.
Then again, while Momoa may not be involved with Batman vs. Superman, it seems likely that that film will be followed up by the long-awaited Justice League movie…perhaps we’ll hear differently when that film begins production.
