He’s the most interesting dog in the world. At least that’s what this Mr. Peabody & Sherman trailer would have you think, but is he? He does stack up pretty well when compared to his animated canine counterparts, but is there another dog that can touch Mr Peabody? You’ll hear a lot of familiar voices in the trailer, Ty Burrell, Max Charles, Ariel Winter, Allison Janney, Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann, Stanley Tucci, Patrick Warburton, Lake Bell, Zach Callison and Dennis Haysbert are pretty recognizable.
One thing the trailer does is remind us all of that whimsical nature of the Mr. Peabody & Sherman cartoon was all about. The quick quip, the double entendre, and other humorous bits were always a part of the series and that tradition appears to survive the Hollywood big screen transformation.
I have to say that it is kinda refreshing to see a childhood memory come to life on the big screen WITHOUT the gritty reboot treatment that seems to be the standard in Hollywood these days.
Mr. Peabody, the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman, use their time machine – The Wabac – to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog. But when Sherman takes The Wabac out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidently rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history. Before they forever alter the past, present and future, Mr. Peabody must come to their rescue, ultimately facing the most daunting challenge of any era: figuring out how to be a parent. Together, the time traveling trio will make their mark on history.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman hits the big screen on March 7th.
We never did get around to those animated canine comparisons though . . . Dino-Mutt . . . no . . . how about Scooby? Nope . . . the Doo won’t do. Brian from Family Guy? Holy Crap . . . Brian and Stewie are some kind of twisted Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Consider my mind blown.
Which dog would you put up against the awesomeness that is Mr. Peabody?
