If you’re a Dexter fan like I am, you have probably broken down by now and admitted to yourself that the last few seasons weren’t exactly the greatest. While there were many well-done moments, they were, unfortunately, overshadowed by the many moments of mediocrity and “WTF?” So while we hated to say goodbye, it was obvious that the show’s time had come. Now, it appears as if the powers-that-be are still holding out for even more Dexter, this time in the form of a spin-off.
The folks over at Showtime, in an effort to make even more money from the popular series, continue to look at the possibility of bringing the beloved sociopath back to the small screen. Luckily, they don’t seem so eager to start in on a new show unless the main face behind Dexter, Michael C. Hall, says yes.
In the words of Showtime president David Nevins:
“It’s something we continue to talk about. If we were to do it, we would have to have a very good reason to do it. It would have to feel like it’s a new show. I’m not interested in doing it if it’s just a continuation. There have been some light, ongoing conversations. It hasn’t really gone anywhere yet.”
“It would have to involve Michael. I think if we were to do it, I would only do it if it with Michael.”
While I personally would prefer that they leave the show dead and buried, it’s still conceivable that they could craft something new and original and bring some life back into the character of Dexter. Of course, are them crazy Hollywood types even capable of putting together something that original?
What do the Nerd Readers think? Would you sit down to watch the adventures of lumberjack Dexter?
