It’s been a while since any news of Ron Howard’s Dark Tower project has reached the Internetz. It’s been an on-again, off-again struggle to get this thing done, complicated by the fact that Howard is looking to turn it into a multi-movie/television series combo that will take some time (and money) to put together. But now it looks like there is a bit of headway being made and the information comes from an unexpected source – Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul.
In a recent interview with Ain’t It Cool News, Paul had this to say with regards to taking part in Dark Tower in the role of Eddie Dean:
I’ve had a ton of meetings on that. I just had a general sit down with Ron Howard, who is a huge fan of the show (Breaking Bad, naturally), which is such a crazy thing to even think that Ron Howard even knows who I am. They’re definitely planning on making it.
And when asked about whether Howard still plans on the ambitious movie/TV format:
Their goal is to do three films, but also have a television element to it, which will be very interesting. From what I hear, Eddie Dean is a pretty epic, iconic character.
It’s been a long damn time since I last read the Dark Tower series (and I only made it through the first three books), so I can’t even say I remember the character of Eddie Dean and thus have no basis to make a decision. But what say you, Nerd Readers? Is Paul the right guy for the role? Excited to hear that Howard is still pursuing this monster of a project?
Thanks to Bleeding Cool for the heads-up.
