Arrow is DC Comics’, Warner Bros.’, and the CW’s surprise hit. It’s managed to not only please comic fans and the CW’s teen audience alike, but also reinvent the emerald archer for a whole new generation. Green Arrow, or simply The Arrow as he’s now known, has almost the same name recognition as DC’s biggest hitters, Batman and Superman, and that’s all thanks to Arrow and its star, Stephen Amell. In a couple of recent interviews, Amell confirms he did have “studio level” talks about appearing in WB’s eventual Justice League movie and that another of DC’s famous characters will get name-dropped in an upcoming episode.

In talking with Fandango, Amell mentions he has had discussions about appearing in a Justice League flick, but they were extremely early, preliminary talks,

All we have to do for something like that to happen, or even be a possibility, is continue to take care of business with our show and then we put ourselves in a position – but the important thing is our show. I have had discussions, but I think the gestation process for this project is a lot slower than most people think. I mean, they haven’t even shot the next one. They haven’t even shot a frame of the movie before the movie everyone thinks is the Justice League movie!

Fandango implies these discussions took place at a “studio level”, so at the very least the top brass at WB are aware of Amell, Arrow, and the success its having. Whether that’s enough to score Amell a role as The Arrow in a big screen Justice League move awaits to be seen. Like he said, not a single frame has been shot for their Man of Steel sequel. That Justice League movie is still a looooong ways off.

It’s good to hear Amell’s focus is on making Arrow the best superhero show it can be, and it’s a sentiment he repeats in this video interview (courtesy of WB Television/the CW). Arrow fans definitely won’t want to skip this interview as it has plenty of insight for where the show is going. The video – which also features some new footage from an upcoming episode – has Amell discussing what’s on the way for Oliver and Laurel’s relationship, how the show is expanding Laurel’s character, what’s in store for Roy post-Miracle dosing, and how appreciative he is of the fans’ response to Oliver and Felicity’s on screen chemistry (something Olicity shippers will be very excited to hear).

In addition to all that commentary and info, Amell also mentions there’s an upcoming episode where he has to name a very big, well known DC character. In fact, he says he was so nervous to drop this name he kept flubbing his line! Batman, obviously, comes to mind immediately but I imagine Bruce Wayne is more likely. Who do you think it is?

Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8pm on the CW. Catch up with our recap/reviews!
