News has been dropping about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 like crazy lately, but surprisingly, not much has been said about the video game that’s to be released along with the movie. Luckily, for those of you who want to do some web-slinging of your own, the game is definitely on its way and it looks awesome!
It looks like the TASM game that was paired with the first movie did well enough to warrant a sequel, and I have to admit, after watching the trailer I’m glad it did. I’ve not yet gotten a chance to play the first game, and its movie didn’t do much in the way of getting me interested in it, but this trailer really makes me want to web up some baddies! Take a look for yourself!
So it seems that, not unlike the game that accompanied The Amazing Spider-Man, the sequel’s tie-in game won’t have players working their way through the movie’s story, instead having its own original story that’ll somehow connect with over-arching TASM universe.
Fans of Kraven The Hunter should be pleased to see that he’s making his TASM debut. He will be heavily featured in the game’s storyline as Peter hunts for Uncle Ben’s killer with Kraven training him to be the hero that he believes Peter is meant to be. In a potential spoiler for the movie, depending on where it fits into the timeline of the movie, we see that Electro will also be making an appearance, so take that for what it’s worth. Given that the first TASM game was a semi-sequel to the movie, and Electro wasn’t around before The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I think it’s safe to say he’ll survive the encounter and be back for the announced Sinister Six movie.
I really like that the game seems to be sporting more comic-book style graphics instead of the more realistic take seen in the previous game. We’re looking at a Spring 2014 release (likely within a few days of the film’s release), and it’s being developed by Beenox, the guys who’ve done a decent enough job with the last few Spider-Man games, so here’s hoping this game will turn out as great as it looks.
What do you think of the first The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game trailer? Will you be picking up a copy? Let us know!
