‘Ghost in the Shell’ Live-Action Gets a Director

ghost in the shell

A live-action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell has been a long time in the making. Years have passed with only an occasional rumor or two, voices crying out in the night that it’s still in the works or that it’s completely lost in limbo. Now, it appears as if people are beginning to think about it once more, for Ghost in the Shell has a director attached in the form of Rupert Sanders.

Sanders is known for his recent work with Snow White and the Huntsman, though aside from a few very small projects has done little else in the way of directing. He’ll be working from a script written by William Wheeler (The Hoax). And while this combination screams of inexperience, it remains to be seen who else may become involved in the movie.

Of course, Sanders’ success with the Huntsman movie has turned him into a busy boy, so it could be some time before he gets around to Ghost in the Shell. The question is – will it be worth it?

What say you Nerd Readers? Do you have any faith in this team? Is taking Ghost in the Shell to live-action just a complete waste of time?
