The transition of the famous Halo video game series into the world of live-action entertainment has been a long and complicated process. And many failed movie attempts later, it still remains something that we have yet to see. But now it seems as if Halo will be making its way to television as opposed to the big screen, and the rumormill states that it will be none-other-than Neill Blomkamp who directs the pilot episode.
Some may note that Blomkamp has been a long-time fan of Halo. He even put together a short, 7-minute live-action Halo film that you can check out on YouTube. He also happened to be involved in the original Halo movie project. Now he has apparently come full circle and will be taking on the directing role. He would, if the rumor is true, be joined by Steven Spielberg in the production department with Microsoft lurking in the background and looking over everyone’s shoulder.
Of course, Blomkamp has stated plainly in the past that his involvement with Halo is over due to all the BS he had to deal with the first time around, so the question is whether he’ll be coming back or whether this is all just a load of Internet rubbish. Rest assured, Dear Readers, we’ll let you know when we find out more.
In the meantime, check out Blomkamp’s short flick and see what you think:
Thanks to /film for the heads-up.
