It’s been almost a year since The Huntress was last seen in Starling City. Actress Jessica de Gouw went and snagged herself a starring role on NBC’s Dracula leaving her chances for returning to Arrow up in the air. Today, however, it’s been confirmed De Gouw is reprising her role as The Huntress for an upcoming episode titled, “Birds of Prey.” Okay, BOP fans, commence freakin’ out!
TV Guide has the exclusive scoop from executive producer Marc Guggenheim,
We consider Jessica a member of the Arrow family and we’re looking forward to having her back for an episode everyone will be talking about after.
Hmm… “for an episode everyone will be talking about after”? That’s ominous.
As I’ve already mentioned this episode will be titled, “Birds of Prey”, and you can probably make a good guess as to why. Helena was last in Starling City to exact revenge on her father, mobster Frank Bertinelli, for killing her fiance. “Birds of Prey” will see Frank arrested thanks to The Arrow (Stephen Amell), and Huntress is returning for take two at offing her pops. Not only will this bring her in conflict with The Arrow but also Canary (Caity Lotz), hence, “Birds of Prey.”
Not sure how much this episode will pull from BOP lore, but with the impending showdown between Huntress and Canary there’s potential for these two to eventually team up. Teasing an eventual Birds team with Huntress, Canary, and whomever will be their Oracle (Felicity, perhaps?) isn’t new for Arrow. Last fall, Guggenheim made it clear the creatives were well aware how close they are to assembling their own version of the Birds, and I’m guessing this episode is the result.
De Gouw’s return to Arrow airs on Wednesday, March 26 at 8pm on The CW. Catch up our Arrow recap/reviews!
Excited for Huntress’ return? Who do you think would win in a fight between De Gouw’s Huntress and Lotz’s Canary?
