Super Bowl XLVIII Ad Roundup: Kingsley, Hiddleston & Mark Strong on Why Brits Make Great Bad Guys; Morpheus Sells Luxury for Kia
Every year the Super Bowl Ads take center stage on the Internet in a rush to get the most bang for those millions of bucks spent for those precious 30 seconds. This year is no different. We’ve got two car companies, Jaguar and Kia taking the Super Bowl Ad plunge. They both use some big names to drive home their points.
First up is a trio of British actors famous for playing the Hollywood bad guy: Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3), Tom Hiddleston (Thor, duh) and Mark Strong (Kick-Ass). They are peddling the latest Jaguar vehicles, and it is remarkable how many things that make them such good villains are also the traits that make Jaguars such a fine automobile, at least that’s what they say. I’ve never owned a Jaguar nor been to Evil Doctor School, and have no frame of reference to compare.
There’s also some bonus footage in this “Making Of” video,
Next up is Laurence Fishburne reprising his Matrix role as Morpheous. I have to admit that after all his rantings about luxury, I wasn’t expecting Kia to be the automobile he was pitching. I’m sure it’s a fine car, but luxury isn’t the first thing that pops in my mind when I hear Kia. Affordable and reliable maybe, luxury, not so much, but that is exactly what this kind of ad might spark, a change in established attitude.
