I’m sorry, did someone say “more zombies”? The CW is really hitting the horror trend hard as of late, and will be adding two more paranormal themed shows to their current line-up of three (Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and its spin-off, The Originals). With a zombie drama, and a Supernatural spin-off, we can expect a lot more gore in the CW’s future.
Zombies are incredibly hot nowadays, so it isn’t surprising that the network would try taking a shot at the genre sooner or later. Based on the comic of the same name, iZombie has been given a pilot order. While it is technically another zombie show, it looks as though the show takes a much less serious look at undead than what most are used to, as you can see in the official synopsis below. It’s definitely a different, albeit sort of silly, approach to the living dead.
A med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.
As many are probably aware, a Supernatural spin-off is on its way, and will be getting a backdoor pilot later on this season. However, it hadn’t been given a name until now. Apparently the working title will be Supernatural: Tribes, which I don’t really like, but maybe that’s because I don’t really understand why the hell they would go with a name like that to begin with. What are these tribes? I guess we’ll be finding out soon enough.
