Fans of 90s and 80s retro have much to celebrate today: Jerry Seinfeld has informed Variety that a long-rumored Seinfeld “reunion” (in a sense, at least) is indeed coming soon. Meanwhile, hot on the heels of their team ups on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and a Superbowl ad for Dannon Oikos yogurt, the boys from Full House seem to be primed for some manner of reunion themselves.
Beginning with the Seinfeld thing: The beloved show’s star told Variety, and yesterday the WFAN show Boomer & Carton that he, at least some of the old cast, and Larry David would indeed be re-uniting for a “Short-ish form, one-off” project. He stated that it would not be a commercial, or an episode of his popular webseries Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
At the same time, he also claims that “it is not not those things, either.”
Whatever the heck THAT’S supposed to mean. Anyway, other than stating for certain that Jason Alexander will be reprising his role as George Costanza, and that it will come out “very, very soon”, Seinfeld declined to offer any further details.
On the Full House front, everybody’s favorite dreamy Greek yogurt pitchman, John Stamos, appeared on Bravo‘s Watch What Happens Live with former co-stars Bob Saget and Dave Coulier, where he was heard to say:
We’re sort of working on a twist on a sequel. But we don’t know if it’s going to happen yet or not.
In an unrelated conversation with CBS News, Stamos claimed they were working on:
…sort of a reunion type thing with the girls
However, this “reunion type thing” apparently will not involve the entire Full House cast.
In any case, it seems likely that it’ll be more than another yogurt commercial or talk show skit…as he said on Watch What Happens Live:
The legacy is so important to us. Every year, it just gets deeper and more important to everybody. We just have to do it right.
It’ll be interesting to see what the casts of both classic (well, arguably classic) sitcoms come up with…Meanwhile, here’s the Full House boys selling yogurt and goofing with Jimmy Fallon:
