What a day for a ton of Avengers: Age of Ultron rumors. The latest, following today’s revelation that Paul Bettany had signed on to play The Vision, suggests that Ms. Marvel will also be joining the team in the upcoming sequel along with Vision, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. So should you believe it, or not? I don’t know, but the ranks of The Avengers are starting to sound a little swelled, don’t you think?
This latest rumor comes courtesy of El Mayimbe form Latino Review, who says that Ms. Marvel is the last and final major addition to the new film. Along with, presumably, all the returning actors from the first film – Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson – the new film’s cast will also include James Spader (Ultron), Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quciksilver) and Thomas Kretschmann (Baron Strucker). Ms. Marvel’s previously been discussed as a possible addition to Marvel Studios Phase 3 plan, and it’s been further rumored that Katee Sackhoff has dibs to play her, but nothing official has yet to be confirmed about the character appearing any Marvel movie.
Whether it’s true or not, this has certainly been a big week for Ms. Marvel as a character. The new Ms. Marvel comic book series launched this week featuring a Muslim teenager Kamala Khan taking up the name Ms. Marvel as an all-new superheroine. The previous, long-serving Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers, was recently promoted to Captain Marvel, and if there is likely to be a Ms. Marvel in Avengers: Age of Ultron it will likely be Carol Danvers carrying the brand.
So is this legit? El Mayimbe’s broken a lot of scoops over the years, some true and some that later turned out false. It’s all good, but from the sounds of it, is Age of Ultron starting to seem like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in terms of comic book character bloat? Time will tell, I guess.
More news as it develops.
