Doesn’t everybody want to be an Avenger? Anthony Mackie certainly does. The actor is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Sam Wilson, AKA: The Falcon, but Mackie has his eyes set on bigger things than being Captain America’s sidekick, like getting a chance to help the superhero team fight an evil robot in The Avengers: Age of Ultron

While talking to Total Film, Mackie made it clear that whether its today, tomorrow, or 10 years from now, he will make it to The Avengers starting line-up.

“I call all of them at Marvel every Monday,” Mackie told Total Film. “I’m like, ‘So have y’all decided if I’m in Avengers 2 yet? I’ll get on the bus to Albuquerque tomorrow!’ I wanted to be a superhero from the first day that I started in this business, and to have the opportunity to be a superhero is kind of remarkable. If I get the opportunity to be in The Avengers 2, 3, 7 and 18, there’s no way I would complain or balk at any part of that…”

It must great to be the operator at Marvel Studios who gets Mackie’s call every Monday morning. Kidding aside, I like Mackie’s chances, not only is The Falcon a recurring member of the team in the comics, but there’s been talk that Iron Man’s wingman James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) might have a role in the upcoming Avengers sequel. So why can’t Cap’s more literal wingman get in on the action? Unfortunately for Mackie he may have to sit out the Age of Ultron as the cast already includes all six of the original Avengers plus Vision, Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch and maybe even Captain Marvel. Ten Avengers should be enough to take out Ultron, but there’s always Thanos, and future Captain America adventures.
The Winter Soldier is in theaters April 4, Age of Ultron will then hit screens May 1, 2015.
