There are two new promo teasers making the rounds for Disney‘s new animated Star Wars series, Star Wars: Rebels. It’s our first chance to see the lead character Ezra in action and hear Taylor Gray‘s voice work.
Yeah, I know that first image isn’t Erza, but it is a bad-ass look at Kanan, voiced by Freddie Prince Jr., aka the space Cowboy/Jedi of the series. Who out there can tell me they haven’t been messing around with the lyrics to the Steve Miller Band‘s The Joker in their head ever since they heard about the Cowboy/Jedi?
Back to the promos. We also get a look at some vehicles and space ships and the one thing that made me do a spit take all over my computer monitor, but I won’t spoil it for you until after you take a look at both videos. So go ahead and take a look, then meet me on the other side to discuss.
I’m just going to go ahead and say it…Lazer slingshot?!?!? Are you Fraking kidding me? OK, I know this is a show made for kids and every kid, this one included, at one time or another, wanted one of those super-powered wrist slingshots to wreak havoc on the neighborhood, but still… I’m gonna have a hard time swallowing this one.
That crashed Tie Fighter pilot has got to be thinking to himself, “A Fraking Lazer-beam-energy slingshot is what kills me after surviving that dogfight in space and the crash landing…Son of Darth Vader?!?!”
Other than that, it looked pretty damn good. Here’s the official synopsis:
Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
Star Wars Rebels will premiere this fall as a one hour special on the Disney Channel. Then the series moves to its regular spot on Disney XD.
