It’s been more or less confirmed that we’ll be getting three villains in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and while we’ve seen up close pictures of both Rhino and Electro, it seems as though Sony has been keeping a clear shot of the Goblin out of sight, even just barely showing him in the first official poster released a few months back. Well, thanks to a video detailing the collectible bust statue, we now have the best look of this new Goblin yet. ***SPOILERS AHEAD***
Naturally, we knew that the Green Goblin in the film would have to either be Harry or Norman Osborn- both of whom are making their debut in this movie- and if you’ve been paying close attention to the trailers and other such promotional material, you already know that the Goblin will indeed be Dane DeHaan‘s Harry Osborn. In their effort to keep that a secret for whatever reason, we haven’t seen much what this new Green Goblin’s suit will look like. Luckily for us, though, this video of the new bust statue not only shows us the costume, but also confirms the Goblin’s identity for the film.
So, what do you think? Personally, I think it’s one of the better things coming out of The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It takes cues from the suit that Willem Dafoe wore; we can see they retained the armored look, but they’ve completely ditched the mask in favor of a transformed Goblin face and pointy-head. I’m not sure just where this particular build of the costume fits in with the timeline of the movie, but as mentioned in the video, it looks like a prototype, so maybe we will end up getting a masked Goblin by the movie’s end.
Do you dig the new look? Are you okay with them skipping over Norman as the Green Goblin first? Let us know, and be sure to check back frequently for more updates on The Amazing Spider-Man 2!
