It’s been nearly 10 years since the release of the last Doom video game, which is a lifetime in the history of the video game business. But now there’s news that the beta version of the long-awaited Doom 4 will be coming to a video game console near you, and if you want, you best get your browser over to the website for the new Wolfenstein game and pre-order that sucker.
But first, some context. You will not get a chance to play the beta version of Doom 4 until Wolfenstein: The New Order comes out later this year. You will get the code and download instructions when you get your physical copy of Wolfenstein, which then outlines all the various processes you’ll need to follow in order to download your copy, start playing, and how long you’ll have to play it. But it all begins at the website for Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Intriguing, right? It’s a cool combination, two of the titans brought together in video game synergy: the latest sequel to one of the first home computer games (Wolfenstein) will lead you to try out the latest version of the first successful First Person Shooter game (Doom). There’s no word yet when we might finally see Doom 4, but it’s been in the works since at least 2008, so, you know, anytime now.
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be in the hands of gamers across North America on May 20 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
More news on Doom as it develops. Anything to wash the taste of that movie starring The Rock out of our months, am I right?
