Star-Wars-Rebels-Hera1233

The last main character for Disney XD‘s Star Wars: Rebels has been officially revealed. Hera is a Twi’lek pilot and owner of Ghost, the show’s primary spaceship and the traveling home of our motley band of rebel heroes.

Vanessa Marshall voices Hera, who takes a leadership role in the group, mainly because its her ship, but also because:

She is a very strong-minded character, kind of the heart of the group, keeps everyone together when they would otherwise fall apart.

While I’d love to be able to embed that introduction video right here, it’s an Entertainment Weekly exclusive and until it makes its way to the Internet in an embeddable form, you’ll have to use this link to view it.

The ship called Ghost will be an important character in the show, much like the Millennium Falcon was in the original Star Wars trilogy. Hopefully, we’ll find out how Hera obtained the Ghost. I’m sure there’s an interesting back story there.

There are going to be a lot of elements of the ship that will related directly to the Falcon, take this scene above. Using those closely relate-able shots in hopes of transferring some of that Falcon love to the Ghost.

After the reveal of the “Rad” Mandalorian character Sabine yesterday, its reassuring to see a more mature female character in the mix. There are only so many “Rad” characters that any show can take.

So that’s the main cast of characters for the show. There’s sure to be plenty of other Rebel characters making appearances, Billy D. Williams and a few other recognizable Star Wars names are listed (Rumored) in the Star Wars Rebels IMDB, but this core group, Hera, Kanan, Ezra, Zeb, Sabine and Chopper, will be the driving force behind the series.

The group will be hunted by the Imperial Inquisitor, rumored to be voiced by Steve Blum (Star Scream in Transformers Prime). The Inquisitor’s not a good guy to have on your trail.

The show kicks off with an hour long special this summer on the Disney Channel and then switches to its regular air slot, still to be announced, on Disney XD later this Fall.
