Okay, so maybe mystic ritual is a bit much. Unless you count throwing out giant paycheck promises as a mystical ritual (and gods know my poor ass certainly would). But the fact of the matter is that Marvel/Disney is gearing up to start with those big decisions regarding their ‘Phase 3’ project, Dr. Strange. And, naturally, the first step is to find someone to act as director for this thing. So who are they currently looking at? Read on for all the mystical goodness.
The news comes via The Hollywood Reporter and, if you can believe the words that are coming out of their mouths, the list of directors that have met with Marvel as a possibility are as follows:
Mark Andrews (co-director – Brave)
Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair)
Dean Israelite (Welcome to Yesterday)
Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies)
Okay, I’m not one to go all fanboy on things, but this Dr. Strange movie is VERY important to me. And seeing Nikolaj Arcel on that list gives me a complete nerd-boner. If you are unfamiliar with his work, I highly recommend sitting down to see what he’s put together. Would it work for Dr. Strange? If Marvel wants something dark and gritty with huge amounts of character development, the answer is yes.
I’m also a fan of Levine’s Warm Bodies, though I wonder at whether his particular style would carry over into a great Dr. Strange flick. As for the rest of them, I’m afraid I haven’t had the chance to delve into what they’ve done thus far.
What say you, Nerd Readers? Any hardcore Dr. Strange fans out there? Anyone on this list that you would put your vote in on? Or is there someone else you have in mind?
Thanks to THR for the heads-up.
