Those of you old enough to remember (or curious enough to have checked it out on Netflix) may have some fond memories of the Michael Jordan + Looney Tunes movie of the mid-90s known as Space Jam. Basically, it was a basketball movie with cartoon characters. And space, of course. Well, it looks like now, nearly 20 years later, the folks at Warner Bros. are ready to make a sequel.
Alas, this sequel will not bring Jordan back to reunite with his former Looney Tune teammates. Instead, the new lead will be none-other-than the Miami Heat all-star, LeBron James. Just like the original, the sequel will no doubt be crammed with basketball stars, so James won’t be dribbling solo.
The movie will be produced by Charlie Ebersol from a script written by his brother, Willie Ebersol. Unfortunately, Willie hasn’t done any script writing before, so we have no idea what to expect. Well, other than a buttload of famous basketball players and plenty of cartoon characters, of course.
What say thee, Nerd Readers? Ready for another round of Space Jam? Will you be exposing your kids to it just as you were exposed to the original?
Thanks to Deadline for the heads-up.
