What happens when a comic studio is given the freedom to pick through a movie studio’s old properties and make new stories about whatever they want? Well, in this case, it’s a continuation of one of John Carpenter’s most beloved action/comedy flicks, Big Trouble in Little China. Better yet, Eric Powell (The Goon) is involved in putting the story together.
It looks like Boom! Studios has been given the power and this is one property they’re looking to throw at us. Yes, Jack Burton is back and he’ll likely be facing off against even more bizarre-as-hell baddies on his quest to be the coolest mo-fo in San Francisco. And while we won’t get Kurt Russell’s charm nor Carpenter’s unique directorial skills, we will at least get the same characters.
Check out the teaser that Boom! released to announce the project:
Apparently, even more info about the project is hitting the Internet tomorrow. So if you want to be in the know, check out Powell’s twitter feed and see what he’s going to say.
What say thee, Nerd Readers? Best news ever? Hoping/dreading that this might lead to a sequel movie or spin-off of some sort?
Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the heads-up.
