The cast of Jurassic World continues to impress with news breaking now that Vincent D’Onofrio will play the villain (?) in the upcoming third sequel to the 1993 classic Jurassic Park. D’Onofrio will join Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simkins and Jake Johnson on the Colin Trevorrow film, which is scheduled to begin shooting later this year for a summer 2015 release.
D’Onofrio, if you’re unfamiliar, is a talented character actor perhaps best-known for his starring role in the long-running Law & Order spin-off Criminal Intent, as well as movie parts in Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket and Tim Burton’s Ed Wood. More likely though, you remember him for playing the alien bug in the Edgar suit in Men in Black. There’s no world on who exactly D’Onofrio’s playing in Jurassic World, but Deadline did make a point of saying that the role was the film’s bad guy, presumably a kind of Dennis Nedry or Peter Ludlow figure in the new film. The real antagonists (sort of) are, of course, the dinosaurs.
Universal also announced that Indian film star Irrfan Khan has also been cast in the film in an unspecified role.
Jurassic World will be out in theaters in June 12, 2015.
