This should answer a lot of questions regarding the role Batman is gonna play in FOX‘s upcoming series Gotham.
The young actor above is the show’s Bruce Wayne: David Mazouz of the TV series Touch. And Bruce Wayne is the ONLY character Mazouz will be playing–Batman isn’t even a gleam in the troubled orphan’s eye yet.
Hit the jump for further details on young Master Bruce, and meet the newly cast “Proto-Catwoman”: Newcomer Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle.
Variety describes the pre-adolescent Bruce as a:
…boy who leans on his butler Alfred and Commissioner James Gordon for guidance after his wealthy parents are murdered.
The role of Selina Kyle, who is apparently slightly older than Bruce Wayne in this iteration will be played by an unknown named Camren Bicondova (below).
Her character is explained as a:
…teenage orphan and street thief who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable.
In other words, pretty much exactly what one would expect of the future Catwoman.
As we have discussed previously, Gotham will not be the story of Batman or Bruce Wayne–but an “origin” series focusing on Commissioner James Gordon years before the Dark Knight becomes the troubled city’s shadowy protector. Jim Gordon and the Gotham PD will be the ones tangling with the colorful criminals that populate the city’s underworld–some will be early versions of foes Batman will eventually face, others will be entirely original characters.
The cast will feature (in addition to Mazouz and Bicondova) Ben McKenzie as Gordon, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a the Penguin, and Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney.
Information regarding the show’s premiere date will be made available as soon as it is announced.
