We here at Nerd Bastards know exactly what our readers want. So we know with full certainty that you have all been craving a return to the world of Shaq-Fu! Yes, you may deny it, but your secret is out. Luckily, there’s another guy that feels just like you do – none-other-than Shaquille O’Neal himself. And he’s ready to give you the opportunity to experience more Shaq-Fu. As long as you’re willing to pay for it, that is.
It looks like the legendary sports star is part of an IndieGoGo crowd-funding project based around the 20-year-old video game gem. And the sequel shall be known as Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn.
So why do they feel the need to make another one of these games, especially considering the rather lukewarm reception of the first? The original did, after all, make more than a few ‘worst games ever’ lists. Well, the answer is money… er, I mean integrity! Yes, integrity. According to the designers at TNT:
Shaq Fu is what the original game should have been – an instant classic. We’re talking Streets of Rage meets Street Fighter meets Devil May Cry. It’s a modern day take on the classic beat ‘em up. Play as Shaquille O’Neal – learn hundreds of moves and battle techniques, take on thousands of enemies with dozens of cool melee weapons, battle bosses in dynamic arenas, master cool finishing moves and play with your buddies in COOP mode or against each other in player vs. player combat.
Hell, even O’Neil has something to say about the
money integrity of remaking the title:
So there you have it. Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn will, should they make their $450,000 goal, be coming to a video game system near you. If you feel the need to jump on board and potentially even meet Shaq himself (*cough* if you spend at least $15,000 *cough*), then head over to their IndieGoGo page and donate some dollars.
