Though most of the cast members of the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII are still a mystery, one person that we know will for sure be making an appearance is alumni Carrie Fisher. She has made it very clear that she’s involved and is not as tight-lipped when it comes to talking about the project. Recently, she let slip a bit more about her role, including the fact that she’ll be filming for quite a long time.
The information doesn’t come from Fisher herself, instead taking the long way around via the ears and mouth of actor Jim Jefferies. Fisher is appearing in an upcoming episode of Legit, the show that Jefferies stars in, and apparently told him a little about her Episode VII time-table:
She’s a funny lady, man. She’ll be smoking cigarettes outside and as soon as she gets inside, she’s straight on to the vapor. She’s had some fucking hard partying in her life, I tell ya….She said to me, she goes ‘I’m going off to London for six months to film the new Star Wars movie,’ right? And I don’t think from looking at it, the new Star Wars movie is a direct continuation. It’s number 7 but it’s not going to be the next day, I’ll tell you that much. Maybe she had the same problem the Emperor had, I don’t know.
So, not really the most stunning news, but still interesting to hear that Fisher is going to spend six months on the Star Wars set. That’s a lot of filming, which means that her role in the new film might be much more important than many have speculated it to be.
What say thee, Nerd Readers? Should the old cast have this much screen time? Or is it time to hand the torch off to some new faces?
Thanks to /film for the heads-up.
