Since Doctor Strange is still years away from hitting the big screen, it’s time for everyone to start doing the rumormill jig and trying to figure out what’s going on behind the scenes waaaaaaay before any official announcements are made. The almighty “sources” has sent us some mystical information from the future that states the director choice for Doctor Strange has been narrowed down to three potentials. Scroll onward to glimpse into a strange and foreboding future filled with possibilities and potential bullshit.
And the (maybe) winners are…
Mark Andrews – Director of Brave and nothing else relevant. He did, however, lend his scriptwriting abilities to John Carter. I’m one of the only people on the planet that hasn’t seen Brave, so I dunno what this guy is capable of.
Jonathan Levine – Director of Warm Bodies, 50/50 and The Wackness. He’s got a different sort of style, but whether it will lend itself well to a property like Doctor Strange remains to be seen. Me, I’d rather see them pass on this guy.
Scott Derrickson – Director of Sinister, The Day the Earth Stood Still (the sub-par Keanu Reeves version) and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. I can’t say I’ve seen enough of his work to cast my vote, but I’m already going to say no anyways.
After seeing this list, I can only hope that this is indeed a BS rumor. I’d really like to see someone I trust take this one on. I’ve been fairly disappointed in most Marvel movie directors thus far and Doctor Strange is VERY important to me. The man that gets the job better know what he/she’s doing and not screw it up, dammit.
What does the peanut gallery think about the “short list”? Anyone on there you would trust?
Thanks to random Hollywood Reporter guy and his Twitter account for the “news”.
