The Lego Movie co-director Chris Miller took to the Twitter-verse to announce who will be directing the follow-up The Lego Movie 2. Who could it be?
Miller quickly tagged on the information that he and his The Lego Movie directing partner Phillip Lord will still be heavily involved in the movie to quell any fears fans might have about the announcement. Just who the hell is @Buddboetticher? None other than Chris MaKay, who was one of the major creative forces behind the animated hit movie. Both Lord and Miller have credited MaKay with a large portion of the movie’s success and this directing promotion is the payoff for all his hard work.
You’ve seen some of his directorial animation work over at Seth Green‘s Robot Chicken. The bad news with this announcement is that McKay won’t be able to direct the Masters of the Universe reboot. He was my choice from that short list.
The Lego Movie sequel is said to focus on the Lego Ninjago character and is scheduled for a May 2017 release date.
What do you think? Can MaKay continue The Lego Movie box office magic?
