We got some more Star Wars: Episode VII news coming your way today, folks, so hold on to your butts. This one concerns the timeline of the upcoming flick, which appears to take it further into the future than we might have first guessed. According to some words spoken by Bob Iger – one of Disney’s biggest big-shots – we can look to Episode VII taking place 30 years after the events of the Return of the Jedi.
Apparently, Iger made this announcement during an earnings call and, in addition to solidifying the timeline, he also stated that there will be three leads in the film and that they’ll all be younger characters. And, of course, that we can expect to see some familiar faces making a return to the Star Wars franchise.
So it looks like this means a whole new story, with no more Galactic Empire and no more Rebellion. I wonder where they’re going to take us now, and whether they’ll be able to do it in style.
Star Wars: Episode VII begins filming in May and, gods be willing, shall be released on December 18th, 2015.
