For whatever reason, I often get Corey Stoll and Paul Scheer mixed up. It’s probably because they’ve both tall, white and bald. Also because I’m a racist. Regardless, only one of them is in talks for a role in Edgar Wright’s upcoming adaptation of Marvel’s Ant-Man. Hint hint: it’s the one with the better teeth.
Stoll’s acting career is straight butter buckets at the moment, as he’s not only been a key player in the “Kevin Spacey talks to the camera like youse a dummy” Netflix political drama, House of Cards, but is also starring in FX’s upcoming vampirism drama, The Strain. Now, according to Variety, Stoll is in talks to take a “top secret” role in 2015’s Ant-Man, which is slated to begin shooting next month. He’s expected to join an ensemble cast that includes Evangeline “Only Enjoyable Part of The Hobbit” Lilly, Michael “Say Sorry to Ronnie” Pena and Patrick Wilson (who I also often confuse with many other white guys, though not Paul Scheer).
Plot details for Ant-Man are pretty much non-existent at this point, but Edgar Wright co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish (whose Attack the Block is one of the best films of the past two decades), so I’m all in. Wright has yet to make a film that is below “flat out stunning” at this point in his career, and I hope his streak just continues on as he brings his unique sensibilities to the Marvel Universe.
Ant-Man opens in theaters July 17, 2015.
