And now’s the time in film promotion when we start getting inundated with TV ads for popular franchise films coming soon to theaters everywhere. Coming hot on the heels of the second trailer of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the fates and studio marketers have blessed us with the first television commercial for the movie. To say this is one of the most hotly anticipated films of the year is an understatement, but can the hype be condensed down to 30 seconds? Let’s find out.
From the looks of things, this ad covers a lot of the same ground as the previously released trailer with the bleak apocalyptic future, snippets of X-Men past and future, and the voice over by the older Xavier (Patrick Stewart) expounding on the need for unity and friendship to create a happier future. Everyone’s got high hopes for this one with return of Bryan Singer and the fan favorite characters from two generations of X-Men, so fingers crossed…
X-Men: Days of Future Past is in theaters everywhere May 23.
