There’s a new batch of stills from Matt Reeves‘ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes making the Internet rounds. We get a good look at the ape and human characters and some scenes like the one above that I can’t wait to see. Notice all those bullets on top of those burlap bags?Battle of the Planet of the Apes is one of my favorite childhood movies and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes looks to be drawing from that movie heavily.
Let’s not forget that we’re going to get apes on horses in this movie as well. That memorable scene in the very first Planet of the Apes when Charlton Heston suddenly sees those horse riding apes is forever burned into my nerdy brain.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Let’s take a look at these new stills:
Andy Serkis commented on where Caesar’s head is in this movie:
Caesar not only has a wife, but also an infant son and a teenage son,This film centers around the notion of family — the survival of the family and what lengths you would go to protect them when life is extremely hard and tough.
I’m betting that we’ll get the famous “Ape shall not kill Ape” scene from Battle for the Planet of the Apes. It’s one of my favorites and a stand out part of the Apes franchise.
What are you most looking forward to in this sequel?
